Summer School

Introduction

For more than 40 years the school has opened in July to offer an intensive English course for children from outside school. These may be students who have had little or no previous contact with language or students who return year after year. The course aims to teach the English language in an active and natural way combining classroom activities with music, sports, and art, all carried out in English.

Our own students can also participate, attending classes at their own level. This year we are introducing the opportunity for our students to work on a series of thematic projects Summer Storytime, Summer Space, Summer Sports, Summer Science and Summer Scratch (Programming and Computing).

Mornings 9:30 – 13:15

  • Small class groups.
  • Qualified, experienced teachers.
  • Progressive levels according to age.
  • Certificate of attendance and evaluation of performance at the end of the course for stays of three weeks or longer.
  • Mid-morning snack.
  • Optional lunch and transport service.

Afternoon workshops and activities 13:15 – 16:15

  • Lunch cooked in the school kitchen.
  • Activities lead by qualified play leaders in English.
  • Games, handicraft, cookery… in English.

What do the students need to bring They should bring a school bag, an individual water bottle, which can be refilled at school and sun cream if needed for playtime in the playground.

How are the class groups formed? The groups are based on age and/or level of English depending on whether the children attend Spanish or British schools.

Can a student stay to have lunch occasionally? Yes, any student may stay to have lunch as long as the secretary is told first thing in the morning so that the kitchen staff can be informed. An additional fee will be charged for this service.

Can special diets be organised for medical reasons? Yes, you can send an email to info@los-olivos.es stating that you need a specific diet; or you can call 96 363 14 09. Please contact the school before 12.00 so that we can order it in time.

If a student needs to get off at a different bus stop, can I let the school know by telephone? ? Yes, you can request a change by calling the Secretary’s Office on 96 363 14 09 between 9.30 and 15.30; or by sending an e-mail. Please do not call later than 15.30 to inform about bus changes, as they will no longer be effective.
