This week, our Primary pupils celebrated Family Day through a series of meaningful and engaging activities designed to recognise and appreciate the diversity of families in our community.
Using stories, conversations, creative work and collaborative activities, the children explored the idea that families can look very different from one another, yet all are united by the same important values: love, care, support and respect.
Throughout the day, pupils enjoyed reading and discussing books such as The Family Quiz and Two Families to Call My Own, which helped them reflect on the many different ways a family can be formed. The activities encouraged empathy, inclusion and understanding, while creating a warm and supportive atmosphere in the classroom.
The children also prepared thoughtful messages and displays celebrating the people who matter most to them. Through simple but powerful phrases and reflections, they shared what makes their own families special and the feelings that family brings to their lives: happiness, protection, confidence, calm, care and love.
At English School Los Olivos, we believe it is essential for children to grow up in an environment where every family is respected and represented. Celebrations such as this help our pupils develop kindness, emotional awareness and a strong sense of belonging within our school community.
We would like to thank our teachers and pupils for making this Family Day such a special and heartfelt celebration.
