This afternoon, Year 10 students at English School Los Olivos attended an informative session on sexual education, contraception and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
The talk was delivered by Dr Patricia Cañete, a gynaecologist at Hospital Dr Peset in Valencia and mother of pupils at our school, who kindly visited the school to share her professional knowledge and experience with the students.
During the session, students learned about different methods of contraception, the importance of preventing sexually transmitted infections, and how informed decision-making plays a key role in protecting personal health and wellbeing. The talk also addressed broader aspects of sexual education during adolescence, encouraging students to develop a responsible and informed understanding of relationships and health.
The session provided a valuable opportunity for students to ask questions and reflect on important health topics in a safe and educational environment.
We are very grateful to Dr Cañete for her time and for contributing to the personal development and wellbeing education of our students.
This activity also highlights the importance of collaboration between families and the school community, enriching students’ learning through the professional experience of parents.
