A group of our Year 10 and 11 students have participated in the Model United Nations Club which led to them taking part in the VALMUN Conference (Valencia Model United Nations) during the first weekend in December.
The conference gave the students the opportunity to learn more about how the United Nations work as well as developing leadership skills, public speaking and problem solving.
Previous to the conference they researched global issues from the perspective of different UN member states with each student representing a delegate from a different country. During the weekly meetings they prepared speeches and draft resolutions in several different committees. This work was then submitted to the VALMUN Conference (Valencia Model United Nations) for a role play of the real United Nations.
During the VALMUN 2023 Conference in the first weekend in December the students gave opening speeches on their prepared topic, lobbied fellow delegates, amended their written resolutions and debated the topics in each committee. On Sunday 3rd December we were welcomed to the UN Support Base in Valencia where we took part in a mock crisis meeting with over 200 delegates from nine international schools from all over Spain.
We would like to thank and congratulate our students for their hard work and valuable contributions to the conference.
