Our Y7 students turned into little scientists this week as they carried out a Halloween-themed chemistry experiment known as the “Puking Pumpkin”.
Using the classic Elephant Toothpaste reaction — a combination of hydrogen peroxide, yeast and washing-up liquid — the children observed how a foamy eruption can form inside a pumpkin, creating a spooky yet educational experience!
With their lab coats and safety goggles on, the students learned first-hand about chemical reactions, while having great fun watching the colourful foam overflow from their pumpkin “volcano”.
This engaging activity is part of our STEAM learning approach, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and a love of science from an early age.
🧡 At English School Los Olivos, learning is hands-on, exciting and full of discovery!
