Year 12 students recently visited Bombas Gens Centre d’Arts Digitals in Valencia, where they took part in a guided tour combining history, art, design, architecture and cultural heritage.
One of the highlights of the visit was Titanic: The Official Exhibition, which allowed students to explore the story of the famous ocean liner through immersive displays, historical artefacts and interactive experiences. The exhibition encouraged students to consider not only the historical significance of the Titanic but also the social, economic and human factors connected to the event.
The group also discovered the remarkable history of Bombas Gens itself. Students explored its historic gardens, archaeological remains and Civil War air-raid shelter, gaining a deeper understanding of the building’s transformation from an industrial site into a major cultural centre.
The visit provided valuable links to both Art and Business Studies, offering students the opportunity to analyse design, communication, innovation, heritage preservation and the management of cultural institutions.
It was a highly engaging and enriching experience that brought classroom learning to life.
