World Olive Tree Day

Alumnos ayudan a plantar un olivo en el jardín del colegio durante el Día del Olivo.

On Friday November 25th we celebrated “World Olive Tree Day” in our Primary school. The idea of the day is to celebrate the importance of olive trees, especially as a symbol of peace, wisdom and harmony. Students were involved in a whole range of olive related activities including learning about how long olive trees can live, their importance in history and the symbolism attached to them. There was also olive tasting, making olive tree crowns and olive tree artwork. However, the highlight of the day was the planting of an olive tree by the members of the student council in representation of all their classmates. To add to the atmosphere the children and staff came to school wearing something green and some of the staff who have been here since the early days of the school visited the different classes to explain how the school started and had changed over the years. The students really enjoyed the day and we have all learned more about Olive trees and their importance.
