Today, our Year 11 students enjoyed a fascinating educational visit around Valencia’s Modernist landmarks, guided by CaminArt, specialists in cultural walking tours led by expert local guides. 🏛️
Throughout the morning, students explored some of the city’s most iconic buildings, including the spectacular Mercado Central de Valencia, where they were able to admire its impressive iron structure, colourful ceramics and magnificent domes from both the exterior and the interior.
They also visited the beautifully decorated Estación del Norte, discovering its symbolic ceramic panels, agricultural motifs and the stunning Modernist hall filled with intricate mosaics and stained glass. 🚉✨
In addition, the group stopped at the elegant Edificio de la calle de las Barcas 2, analysing its floral ornamentation, decorative balconies and distinctive tower — all clear examples of the artistic richness of the movement.
This didactic activity has allowed students to reinforce and expand the content they are currently studying in “Lengua Castellana”, making their understanding of Modernism far more meaningful and contextualised. Seeing these architectural masterpieces in person truly brings the subject to life. 📚🎨
A wonderful opportunity to connect literature, art and history with the city around us.
