Our Year 12 and Year 13 Art students recently enjoyed a fascinating day exploring some of Valencia’s most important cultural and artistic venues as part of their ongoing studies.
The visit began at Fundación Bancaja, where students viewed the exhibition From Miró to Barceló, featuring works from the collections of ABANCA and Fundación Bancaja. The exhibition offered an excellent opportunity to study a range of artistic movements and styles, from the work of Joan Miró to contemporary pieces by Miquel Barceló.
The group then continued to the Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània (CCCC), where they explored a variety of exhibitions, including Línia, Llum, Color, dedicated to the comics of Miguel Calatayud, alongside other contemporary artistic projects.
The final stop of the day was the IVAM, where students visited exhibitions by Cristina de Middel and Territories in Transit, discovering different approaches to photography, visual storytelling and contemporary artistic expression.
Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to observe artworks firsthand, analyse artistic techniques and concepts, and gain inspiration for their own creative projects. Experiences like these help bring classroom learning to life while encouraging critical thinking and a deeper appreciation of art and culture.
It was a highly enriching day that allowed students to engage directly with Valencia’s vibrant artistic scene and broaden their understanding of contemporary art.
