As part of the first term of the A Level Photography course, our Year 12 students have been developing their practical skills through a series of hands-on projects and workshops designed to strengthen their technical and creative abilities.
Inspired by staff portraits previously taken within the school, students chose staff portraiture as the focus of one of their practical projects. This theme immediately sparked their interest and provided an excellent opportunity to apply classroom learning in a real and meaningful context.
Throughout the project, students worked to a clear brief, planned and organised a photoshoot, learned how to communicate effectively with their subjects and how to help their models feel comfortable in front of the camera. They also developed their digital workflow skills, including editing, refining and exporting images to a professional standard.
This project has been a valuable learning experience, combining technical photography skills with organisation, communication and creative confidence—key elements of the A Level Photography course.
